The Moto M

Continuing their streak of budget powerhouses, Motorola has announced the Moto M.

The 5.5 inch phone comes with a full HD display, and a 2.2 GHz octa core Mediatek Helio P15 processor. While the clock speed and core excites us, it is strange to see Motorola giving up on Snapdragon Processors, known for their performance and opt for Mediatek. The phone is available in 3GB and 4GB RAM versions, having 32GB internal and 64GB internal storage respectively. Both come with external memory card support for upto 128GB.

The rear shooter has 16 Megapixel f2.0 aperture, which is decent considering its a Moto Camera, which have been consistent in performance till now. The front camera also packs 8 MP, for all your selfies.

The phone has a gorgeous all metal look, with the fingerprint sensor placed at the back, reminiscent of the Redmi Note 3 and the LeEco Le-1S series. 2 nano sims are supported, while one of the trays doubles up for a memory card. The phone has USB Type-C reversible, for charging and OTG support, while (thankfully), it still clings on to the 3.5mm audio jack. The 2.5D curved glass adds to the premium finish of the phone.

Dolby Atmos Sound sounds promising, with active noise cancellation support. The 3050mAH battery will supposedly hold out for a day. And if it doesn't you do have fast charging.

Other features include NFC, Google Photos integration. It comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box, but is almost sure to receive Nougat.

The phone is available for Rs. 15999 for the 32GB/ 3GB RAM version and Rs. 17999 for the 64GB/ 4GB RAM version, exclusively on Flipkart.

The Verdict: While Motorola has launched a solid player, they have done so in a range already too saturated. And thus, unless you're one for looks, this isn't the most value for money phone you'll encounter.
