Apple ready with all its surprises but is it enough?

Apple WWDC 2017

iPhone's 10th anniversary is close and hence, major updates and releases are pretty obvious. Apple's fancy WWDC(World Wide Developers Conference) will as usual take place from June 5-9 at McEnery Convention Centre in San Jose, California and not San Francisco where it took place last year. This venue last hosted the event back in 2002. Let's have a look at some of the buzz that's been going around.

Apple Products

iOS: The latest iOS 11 is anticipated to be released along with a host of new features. With the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa gaining popularity, Apple would not like to stay behind in terms of its AI developments buff up Siri for the war. Works are in progress to make Siri talk more naturally and we can see that happening in iOS 11. We also expect the Dark Mode(a viewing mode with black background to reduce eye stress), Healthkit and Homekit application bringing in new functionalities for the OS. Apple focuses mainly on its software front during WWDC but the Apple iPhone 8 might have a featured sneak peaks to confirm or deny the rumors and concepts that have been going around.

Special Mention: The popular iMessage app might make its debut on Play Store competing the likes of Google Allo and Facebook Messenger.

macOS: Apple is expected to unveil the latest version of its operating system at WWDC and is most likely to do the same this year. Apple has moved from naming its OS using the big cats and has since then chosen California locations like Sierra, Yosemite, etc. It has not taken up an official name for this year's update( macOS 10.13). We are not sure whether macOS 11 would be unveiled this year. As for the updates, deeper integration of macOS and iOS is likely to occur. Facetime may get a group chat functionality. Such features would make macOS strong and suitable for meetings where it lags behind the Microsoft Skype.

tvOS: The latest tvOS is likely to support 4K and HDR resolution. It is also to be seen how Apple prepares the OS to be more home-oriented. It would be interesting to find whether Apple TV is integrated with Siri which would be a major leap for Apple TV.

watchOS: The latest watchOS is expected to be released along with new apps including an app that tracks sleep.

The iPhone 8 might be something to look out for this year. Photos of a bezel less and slim iPhone have been doing rounds on the internet. A launch at this time would be especially strategic after the Samsung fiasco.(Read: Note 7 Disaster Explained) With the Chinese competitors gaining strides, Apple would like to make the most of this year's WWDC.

PS- This are only rumors and our expectations for the WWDC 2017 and may or may not be the same as the official event.
