Nokia plays its cards at the MWC 2017
The Mobile World Congress(MWC) is the world's largest gathering of the Mobile Phone Industry organized at Barcelona. The 2017 edition is currently underway, and its a no-brainer that everyone wants to show off. With companies like Samsung, Blackberry, LG, ZTE and Huawei having already flexed their muscles; enter Nokia to steal their thunder. With 3 Phones launched including the beloved Nokia 3310, plus a color addition for the Nokia 6(read more here), Nokia sure had a stellar lineup reminiscent of its Old Glory days. Here's a brief sum up.
Starting with the legend of sorts, the new Nokia 3310 brings back the past, albeit with a few sweet updates. It is now available in bolder colors such as gloss Red and Yellow, and also in matte Blue. The 2.4 inch screen is now lit with colors, but it seems to take little toll on its massive one month strong (on standby) and straight 22 hours talktime battery life. The beloved Snake Xenxia makes a comeback, in color and with a brand new logo. However, you won't need the phone to play it, as the game also makes its entry on Facebook Messenger.
The camera is still is 2MP shooter, which kind of goes well with the 16MB memory. It is expected to retail at about Rs.3500.
Coming to the Android offerings, which are to be the pinpoint of all future endeavors of the Company, Nokia launched the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, as younger cousins to the already available Nokia 6.
The Nokia 3 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core Mediatek 6737 processor. It has a 5 inch display. Packed with 2GB of ram and 16GB memory, expandable upto 128GB. The phone also takes into account the importance of the selfie shooting front camera, with an 8MP shooter both front and back.
The phone comes with dual SIM and 4G LTE support. The Nokia 3 is expected to be available at a competitive price of Rs.9800.
The Nokia 5 offers a 2GB of RAM and a a 16GB of Memory, much like the 3. An HD 5.20 inch display makes the almost bezel less front. The rear camera is a good 13MP while the front camera is 8MP.
The phone is dual SIM with 4G LTE support and is going to be an entrant in the sub 15000 range.
The Nokia 6, which remains an only China release till now, is expected to be available Globally soon, with rumors of it hitting India at a price tag of under 20K
All the Android phones will run on stock Android, which guarantees them the latest updates for a good time. They will also come with unlimited cloud storage on Google Photos.
Not much can be said until these devices actually hit the market, but one thing is for sure; it is time to start taking Nokia seriously again.
