MechDome is linking Android directly into iOS.

Cross-platform development is an issue that has been around quite some time. Independent developers were forced to familiarize themselves with different languages to push their apps for different OS. Platform like Xamarin has helped C# developers to do the task in hand but the Android Developers have to either stick to Java or acquaint themselves with a new platform. Intel's Multi-OS platform is headed nowhere too. That is until MechDome. It is a Developer Tool that Automatically Converts Android Apps into iOS and OSX Apps.

What it does?

MechDome has developed an automated tool that converts an Android APK into a fully functional iOS application. There is no need to know a new IDE or API. All you need to do is upload the APK and MechDome will convert it into standalone binary for iOS and OSX in seconds. You do not even need to upload a single line of your source code, no need to know anything about iOS development, MechDome will do it for you.

The best part about MechDome is it will handle all the technical stuff for you like handling the objective C library, converting all Android UI elements, transitioning it into a format suitable for iOS devices. It claims to make the Android app suitable for the target OS. The only problem I find is iOS and Android are different in certain aspects- Apple's stringent nature on background activities, inter-app communications ( almost absent in iOS). Furthermore, Google Play Services API is not supported, so any app based on Google Services will not work. That should not be a problem for most of the apps.

You can opt for a free account which limits you to just one Android application for testing on iOS, otherwise, you need to apply for the paid subscription which is through invites only currently.

I think it's great. Simply put, it gives a lot of room for Android Developers to enter the iOS market. Worth a shot!
