The new Gmail is here- looks different but feels the same.

It's been a while since Google rolled its material design in April '18 and since then, everyone was expecting the same change in the Android and iOS application as well and its finally here and it looks good. Period - no big red bar at the top, a cleaner, lighter Gmail for you.
In the design, there are a few noticeable changes. The account switcher has been moved to the top right corner with the search bar which is the main navigator for both account switches and the hamburger menu button. The position of the "Floating Action Button" remains the same only that its in sync with the new material design Google's adopting everywhere slowly.

In the features department, it hasn't still caught up with its web counterpart. You will find the option for different spacing: default, comfortable and compact. Attachments are surfaced so you can access them directly and Smart Compose feature has arrived allowing you to write your emails with ease. That's it. No Google Tasks yet!
Verdict: I like the material design since its rolled out on the web and I have been waiting for this update but I was disappointed sort of. No dark mode (it would have been so cool if it was there), no Google Tasks, traditional grouping (that could have been adopted from the fading Inbox app). Nevertheless, the look feels fresh, a lot more modern.
Google says this is a "gradual rollout" for Android and “continue on to iOS throughout the coming weeks.” You can download the Android version here.
