Get rid of "unusual traffic from your computer network"

"Unusual traffic from your computer network"- bet you have heard it somewhere, sometime, from someone (or you), frequently getting stuck in the recurring cycles of reCAPTCHA and frankly it's frustrating (been there, done that). Furthermore, everything works fine on other browsers or in incognito mode. Let's cut to the chase.

WHY THIS HAPPENS?

This notification means that Google is detecting some sort of automated traffic on "your network" sent to Google. Google has implemented this in order to protect against DDoS and other service attacks. Google considers these as automated traffic:
  • Sending searches from a robot, computer program, automated service, or search scraper
  • Using software that sends searches to Google to see how a website or webpage ranks on Google

Google

WHAT TO DO?

The notification most likely shows a reCAPTCHA. To continue, you must complete the CAPTCHA it to prove that its not an attacking bot that is attempting to access the page, but a human. Completing this will remove the barrier and you can use Google again.

I don't see a reCAPTCHA/Its too frequent

  • Try doing a malware scan. Malware can cause Google to show this message.
  • Try to stop/disable applications imposing high traffic in the background. This includes extensions as well.
  • If you are on a shared network, contact the network administrator to see if someone on the network is sending automated requests. Note that the any other computer on your shared network, and not necessarily your system, can be the reason of those notifications. Do perform a check.
  • Reset your modem or router to see if it fixes your issue.
We would like to point out that if the shared network is causing the problem, the above steps might not work but you can still give a try and check for yourself.

If nothing else works, try removing cache and cookies of your browser and restarting it. In all probability, this should solve your problem. In case, you still have problems, put your queries down in the comments, we will be happy to help you out. :)

If you like this article, do share it.

See you in the next. Peace!
