The F8 of Facebook

Like every year, Facebook made a hoard of announcements at its F8 Developers Conference held during the last two days. In short, here's what you need to know:

The main focus seemed to be drifting towards AI and Virtual Reality. We know the company has got high hopes in both the fields (Read: Hugo Barra Leaves Xiaomi to join FB's Oculus Division), and it became clearer with these announcements:

1. AI powered Camera to Blur Backgrounds- Facebook Plans to Roll out a camera which will be able to blur out backgrounds from your photos. While this is nothing new, but the efficiency which facebook's offering claims to achieve is phenomenal, thanks to the AR technology powering it.

2. Skin Ears: FB is claiming to develop a technology which will enable deaf people to hear through their skins. While they weren't very clear about it, what you would probably experience are some vibrations characteristic to a particular word. There are some steps already in this direction, and it will be interesting to watch FB building up on them.

3. Typing through your brain: If you thought the last one sounded bonkers, then this one will will push you to the next level. Facebook intends to develop technology that lets you type with your brain. Again this is far fetched and the technology may not be around for years. For now, they are starting with a simple yes or no clicks, but the end idea is to achieve speeds faster than physical typing. FB steered clear of controversy by adding that this will not read your private thoughts.

Other than this, Instagram is getting an offline mode, with a lot of features. You can now like, comment and share on Instagram, and the next time you connect to the internet, all the update will be conveyed.

Another notable thing will be the addition of an Apple Music extension on Facebook, which may then roll down to the app. This is completely new, as Facebook has never played around with music. In my opinion, I would like some music to complement my Feed Browsing.
